Learn, Connect, and Grow
Engineering Students Exploring Research (EStER) aims to create a community for students interested in research and to make it easier for students to contribute to research and prepare for a future career in research.
Forgot your lunch at home? No worries! The lunch lectures we organize do not only save you from spending precious CSN-money, but gives you opportunities to be inspired by the exciting works of doctoral students and researchers. Ever wondered what a doctoral student does? Or had that really specific research question that both Google and ChatGPT failed to answer? Now's your time to ask!
Through study trips we explore beyond the lecture halls, where theory meets practice. Meet the team of scientists behind the experiments you've only seen posters of. These are great opportunities to connect with peers and experts with similar interests. Maybe we could visit your dream workplace next? As always: the sky (i.e. the budget) is the limit!
Embark on your Research Journey!

Wilhelm Carmevik — President — carmevik [at] kth.se
I became a board member in 2025 because I am very interested in research and want to help people explore this fascinating world. In 2026 I was elected president, wanting to continue organizing events that people enjoy. As president of the organisation, I coordinate the work we do and am responsible for the vision of the organisation.
Viggo Haglund — Vice-president — vhaglund [at] kth.se
My name is Viggo Haglund and I am vice president of EStER this year. I am a part of EStER because I want to help make research more accessible and appreciated among engineering students by showing them all the amazing stuff that’s going on. As vice president I’m focusing on meetings and internal matters as well as coordinating projects.
Abdul Rehman — Treasurer — abdreh [at] kth.se
As the treasurer, I mainly look after the cash side of things — keeping track of the budget, making sure everything’s running smooth and sorted. On top of that, I also flick emails to different companies, help organise events here and there, and just chip in wherever the team needs a hand.
Amer Avdic — Event responsible — amerav [at] kth.se
I joined the EStER board because I have a strong interest in research, particularly as a means to give an answer to questions no one has the answer to right now. My role within the board is event responsible, which means I will help organize events, including lectures and trips, to promote a career in research for interested students.
Thank you for visiting our website! We wish you success in your
research endeavors and look forward to engaging with you as we work
together to inspire students.
